This week's edition of the Sunday Soundcheck looks at the tragically short-lived Redjetson, an English band who were one of the first to fully experiment with post-rock aesthetics and indie rock sensibilities. Their sound lies somewhere between jagged melancholy of the sort that bands like Interpol and Editors became famous for, and slow brooding instrumental passages. Their first album, New General Catalogue, is a masterful listen. The second was released after their 2008 split, and carries a lighter and more radio-friendly sound.

A sort of absence notification (now with music!)Hello everybody,
I'm sorry for my absence, but nowadays life keeps me busier than usual. It's a weird mix of a heavy workload, staff reduction, and illness of workmates, and it seems as if it won't get better soon. So I do not only have less free time, I'm also rather exhausted after every single day at work.
I'm longing to watch and comment your work though, and I'll try to catch up with everything until the next weekend. I just want you to know that I'm still here.
Until then, I'll leave you with some very fine pieces of classical music. Enjoy!

Under the bridge 2I take my walks. By my self. Got no dog, but a camera. Makes my walks double nice. Photographing as I walk along – it gives the feeling I am working at the same time time being free from the computer. I like taking photos – must are a not very good, so when I come back I throw most of them away. But it does not matter much. I usually visit the same spots over and over, some places have potental, and I am just waiting for the perfect light...... Here is one my favorite places. Under the Liljeholmen bridge in Stockholm. The light, the shadows, the reflections in the water or the ice, the many interesting vertical lines and of course the zig zag stairs..... I have photpgraphed this bridge for over ten years and and everyday there is something new to see. While the full release, Charcoal, is predominantly ambient, the stand-alone track Petrichor is perhaps the more intriguing composition, drawing inspiration from acts as diverse as the art-rock post-classical sounds of Ulver's A Quick Fix Of Melancholy and Burial'
